About Me

My name is Ruben (a.k.a. Rubii) and I am a 20-year-old Dutch-Spanish motorsport, memes and gaming content creator.

I was born in 2006 in the Netherlands and the first game I ever remember playing was Mario Kart DS, which I played from the moment I knew how to use my hands. My passion for content creation came really early as well, no later than 2013, when as a sneaky 7-year-old I created a YouTube channel without my parents' permission. Obviously this stint didn't end well, and only lasted about a day.

In 2015 I posted my first YouTube video, with permission this time. It was a video that I filmed with my iPad from the sofa of me playing Minecraft on the PS3, which thankfully has been lost media for many years now. It took until 2018 for me to start taking YouTube a bit more seriously at 12 years old as a Dutch-language content creator. I reached 200 subscribers in January 2019.

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, I moved to Twitch for live streaming together with a couple of friends. We would play Roblox games for big groups in private servers, and later, when it first became trending, we jumped ship to Among Us, which we would play with viewers. The Among Us streams were my first taste of real success where I would reach a new audience rather than mostly family and friends. I grew a Discord server to well over 100 members and reached Twitch Affiliate status at 14 years old in March 2021.

When we grew bored of Among Us, we created a Minecraft SMP in 2021. To this day it is still one of the most enjoyable times I had online. Unfortunately when the SMP inevitably died out a year later, I slowly started disappearing from social media in early 2022, declaring the dream of content creation as a thing of the past and moving on to pursue new interests. For about half a year, I basically quit social media and gave up everything I had built up on the internet. This was until I got interested in league racing on the official F1 game in mid-2022, forcing me to establish new online contacts.

I have always been interested in F1 and motorsports in general, but it took me until around 2017 to actually start following F1 and I only started watching races live in the early 2020s. My inactive YouTube channel with 290 subscribers was replaced by a different channel where I would stream my league races, but not with a renewed dream of becoming a content creator... it was just mandatory to share your race POV in F1 leagues. At times, however, I would put meme edits of league races or real-world F1 moments on this new YouTube channel, which is now my second channel, with the purpose of sharing them with friends.

In October 2023, I joined the F1 Esports community. Most people do that by joining a team. I didn't. Without any experience in the scene, I founded my own team: Team G-Force (TGF). The team was built from the ground up and running the team taught me a lot and made me grow a lot as a person, getting closer to my true self.

During my time running TGF, I also started with graphic design as a hobby. I would design all of the team's graphics and gave it a striking identity, with a bold cyan theme.

In August 2024, after my life hit an all-time low and I needed surgery, with a long recovery time ahead where I had nothing to do, I returned to content creation. I started live streaming on Twitch again, playing games such as Fortnite and Roblox (racing games in particular) with TGF teammates. It only lasted a few months, until around November when I thought I was going to get my life up and running again. TGF closed its doors in December 2024 due to a lack of financing to enter tournaments, as the longer-than-expected recovery from my surgery left me without an income.

After watching the Bahrain GP pre-race show in April 2025, I made an edit of Davide Valsecchi pronouncing the names of F1 drivers, and posted it on a TikTok account i sporadically uploaded on out of boredom. This would go on to become my first viral video, racking up 1.2 million views on my TikTok, not to mention the reposts on Instagram and X by other people which each got around a million views as well.

In May 2025, my life would reach an even lower point as my recovery proved unsuccessful and I was forced to opt for a second surgery. During the time I'd be in recovery again, I missed many opportunities. While the people around me were getting on with life, I was stuck and eventually I kind of isolated myself and all I could do was talk to people online. I was lucky to have graduated before the first surgery, as I was forced to take another gap year.

In November 2025, a third surgery would unfortunately follow, after the second surgery proved to be unsuccessful as well. Thankfully, about a month later, after 17 months of isolation and not being able to live a normal life, I made a full recovery.

In January 2026, I announced a full return to creating content. I would revive my inactive main YouTube channel with, after losing some subscribers due to inactivity, 280 subscribers. The original intention was to play group party games, like in 2021. I would play Jackbox and host a Minecraft SMP with friends I met through the F1 scene, with the success I expected and was used to. 60 views per video... 5 peak concurrent live viewers... until in March, everything changed.

With the new F1 regulations receiving a lot of backlash and getting compared to Mario Kart, the series of games that shaped my childhood, from demolishing every online lobby together with my brother on Mario Kart 7 to running around the living room pretending that I had a power star. I saw memes comparing F1 to Mario Kart, which frustrated me, because they were very bland and inconsistent. I decided that I could do much better and I would go on to edit the Chinese GP and turn it into a Mario Kart race with its own storyline. Just to share with friends of course.. and maybe post it to X to start a debate.

I also decided to post it on both YouTube and TikTok. And days later, my childhood dream came true. All of a sudden I was an actual content creator.

The edit gained 1.9 million views on TikTok, making the Davide Valsecchi meme look worthless. My TikTok account had a different identity from my YouTube channel, but I did mention my YouTube channel as the "original creator", leading to the video getting well over 30 thousand views on there as well, and my channel reaching 300 subscribers after 7 years since the last milestone.

Things became serious really quickly. My edit was shown on Australian television, I was approached by other content creators and joined their network, and there was a public demand for my content.

Following the success of the Mario Kart edits, I merged my YouTube and TikTok pages under the Rubii name and I would continue making these edits, hoping to make them for the rest of the 2026 season at least. I would also explore other types of F1 content to see what else my viewers are interested in. And while they do not reach the same numbers as the Mario Kart edits, there is still a significant difference. I went from 60 views per video to 1000 per video, with the best performing non-meme edit reaching over 5000 views, and my highest viewed video overall even reaching over 50000.

Going into September 2026, I stand at 2700+ subscribers and over half a million total views on YouTube, and 4800+ followers on TikTok with over 5.5 million total views and 610 thousand total likes. Motivated by my passion for design, having designed simracing liveries, team graphics and my online brand, I have finally taken a step I always wanted to take into designing clothing, and I hope you like it!
